ABOUT ERIN MURPHY-WILCZEK

Growing up, I always wanted to pursue a career in a profession where I could help others. I studied Speech Pathology at Stockton University during my undergrad years, and later went on to earn my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Kean University. My first years in the eld were spent working as an Oncology Social Worker, where I provided support to adolescents and adults who were navigating complex challenges from a cancer diagnosis, as well as bereavement. This time taught me invaluable lessons in compassion, strength, and positivity.

I now work during the day as a School Social Worker on the Child Study Team for a high school in Bergen County. In addition to managing students’ educational needs, I also provide counseling to students with emotional and social challenges. In addition to my role as Child Study Team member, I am the school’s anti-bullying specialist. My work in private practice is a wonderful intersection of my passions and experiences. I get to work with adolescents and adultshttps://beautifuljrcc.com/individual-therapy/ and help guide them through times of trouble, uncertainty, and provide skills and hope for the future.

In my personal time, I enjoy connecting with family and friends, taking trips to the beach, and being outdoors.

APPROACH TO THERAPY

With my experience in both healthcare and the school system, I know what it’s like to help those in great need of services. During life’s obstacles, I believe I can provide nurturing support while validating feelings, highlighting strengths and navigating ways to cope. When you’ve lost control and feel alone, I can assist in finding calm in your most stress-filled days while reigniting hope. I utilize Mindfulness, Strengths Perspective, Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other techniques to address your specific needs.

PERINATAL MENTAL HEALTH

Parenthood is a journey of different emotions that can feel like a whirlwind. Picturing how parenthood would be, may be different from your reality and I am here to support you through all emotions that arise. I am eager to help those experiencing Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders as well as issues related to family planning during the perinatal and postpartum periods.
